    The Falls is currently seeking a qualified candidate for our Assistant Superintendent position. The Falls is an 18-hole, Rees Jones designed resort course. The Falls opened for business in the spring of 2015. It was ranked as one of the best new courses in the United States by Golf Digest. The Falls has bentgrass from tee to green and all greens are built to USGA specs. The Falls is one of many properties owned and operated by Elite Gaming Resorts LLC.     Job Duties:

    The Assistant Superintendent will be responsible for assisting the Superintendent with all duties surrounding the management of a successful golf course maintenance program. The Assistant must arrive to work every day with a great attitude, and a desire to do their best.

    Requirements:

    • Successful candidate will have the ability to lead a team, communicate well, and demonstrate their knowledge and work ethic as it relates to golf course maintenance.
    • Minimum two year degree in Horticulture, Turf Management, or related field.
    • Minimum two years golf course maintenance experience.
    • Ability to obtain Iowa pesticide applicators license.
    • Ability to obtain an IRGC license.
    • Mechanical ability a plus.

    Compensation:

    • $16.25-18.25/hour
    • Time and half for anything over 40 hours/week.
    • Structured pay increase at 90,180, and 365 days of service.

    Overview:
    The grounds assistant, under the supervision of the grounds supervisor performs work involving the use of various types of equipment used in the general maintenance  of  the  golf course.

    Functions:
    Manual labor including irrigation repair, equipment maintenance, cutting cups, tree trimming and removal, equipment operation, facility maintenance, snow removal, etc. Maintenance of all signs, hazard stakes, tee posts, etc.

    Employment Standards:

    • Knowledge of safe, efficient mechanical operation of tractors and other motorized equipment
    • Mechanical aptitude
    • Ability to follow oral and written directions
    • Possession of a valid drivers license
    • Must pass physical and drug screening
    • Must acquire a pesticide applicators license within 1 year

    Sample Schedule:
    During the peak season (March - November)
    Mon - Fri 7:00am - 3:30pm
    Sat & Sun 6:00am - 9:00am (average four weekend days per month)

    During the off season (December - February)
    24 hours per week average

    Hourly Wage: $9 - $11 per hour

    Position: Assistant Golf Course Superintendent

    Description:
    Bishops Bay Country Club is an 18-hole, private country club located in Madison, Wisconsin. This Bob Lohmann design sits on the north shore of Lake Mendota with views of the Wisconsin Capital and University of Wisconsin-Madison campus. Greens, tees and fairways are predominantly bentgrass. Grounds maintenance at Bishops Bay CC is provided by Reliable Golf Services. Our group built and grew in this course in 1993-1994 and has been managing the golf course maintenance operation since its opening in 1995. Reliable Golf is a management company that provides golf course maintenance services in the Midwest and we are looking for a self-motivated, energetic individual.

    Role:
    The Assistant Superintendent reports directly to the Superintendent and assists in day-to-day agronomic operations of the golf course and clubhouse grounds and will serve in the superintendent’s capacity during his/her absence.

    Responsibilities:

    • Assist in overseeing the golf course maintenance crew and participate in staff meetings, hiring and scheduling
    • Training of seasonal staff on proper use of tools and equipment with an emphasis on safety
    • Proper application of fertilizer and plant protectants
    • Irrigation troubleshooting and repair
    • Both overseeing the completion and assisting in completing tasks and projects in a timely manner
    • Winter mechanical repair work on equipment

    Requirements:

    • Two or Four year degree in turfgrass management or related field
    • Previous experience on a golf course
    • Ability to obtain a Wisconsin pesticide applicator license
    • Be self motivated and have a drive to ensure Bishops Bay maintenance standards are met or exceeded on a daily basis

    Short Hills Country Club is a private member owned course that is operated by Green Golf Partners and was built in 1922 by Ted Locke. It was redesigned by D.A. Weibring in 1998 and plays 6,710 yards from the championship tees. This course creates unique agronomic and management practices in the perspective that there are three different physical makeups of greens that we pride ourselves on creating consistency in playability.  In the fall of 2008 the front nine greens complexes were renovated and the greens were built to USGA specs and seeded with A1/A4 creeping bentgrass. The back nine greens consist of 4 USGA spec bent/poa greens and 5 greens are the original bent/poa push up greens that have been modified throughout the years through various aerification and topdressing practices. There are 25 acres of bent/poa fairways, 3 acres of bentgrass tees and 34 bunkers.  The chosen individual will work directly with the golf course superintendent in developing and implementing agronomic strategies through course scouting and monitoring and implementing those strategies with fertilizer and pesticide calibration and application, irrigation control, operation and maintenance, moisture management, and other related IPM and BMP practices. The assistant will play an integral role with daily course set up while training, monitoring and managing the maintenance staff in completing daily tasks to the highest standards.
