    Owatonna Country Club in Owatonna, MN is currently accepting applications for Assistant Golf Course Superintendent. The Owatonna Country Club is an 18-hole Private Country Club measuring 6,300 yards and features bent/poa greens, tees, and fairways.  2019 marks an important year at Owatonna Country Club.  We are in our Centennial year and we plan to celebrate the huge milestone throughout the year.  The incoming assistant will need to be ready for the fast pace nature of the job shortly after arriving.  Position is available as early as March 18th.

    Duties include, but not limited to:

          Assists in planning and supervising the maintenance of greens, tees, fairways and all areas related to the golf course.

          Instructs employees on the operation and care of mowing and other related equipment.

          Responsible for fertilizer and pesticide applications and inventory management of all related items used on the golf course;

          Assists the superintendent in personnel management and evaluation, employee safety and personnel discipline, plus could modify work schedules when needed.

    Requirements:

          Passion for the game of golf.

          Applicants must have either 2- or 4-year degree in turfgrass or related field. 

          Applicant must have 3-5 years’ work experience in the turfgrass field. 

          Currently have or ability to obtain MN. pesticide license within 60 days of hire

          Positive attitude and desire to take the next step in their career

    Salary/Benefits:

    $36,000-$40,000, Health Insurance, GCSAA/MGCSA Membership Dues, Uniform Allowance, Pesticide Applicator Fees, 401(k)

    Flint Hills National Golf Club is looking for an individual excited to gain valuable experience on their path to become a Superintendent.  Our goal is to help prepare assistants towards their career goals in the turf industry.

    Designed by renowned Golf Course Architect Tom Fazio in 1996, Flint Hills National has been a nationally recognized golf club since the beginning.  With one of the largest practice facilities in the country and 18 holes of championship golf, Flint Hills National draws some of the most passionate patrons of the game to join the club each year.  The club has hosted numerous USGA championships through the years including US Women’s Amateur, US Senior Amateur, and most recently the US Junior Amateur. 

    The Assistant in Training will report directly to the Superintendent and his Assistants on a daily basis.  The AIT will not only assist with all fertilizer and pesticide applications but also be involved with planning the IPM program.  There will be continuous opportunities to strengthen your skills including:  mechanical, irrigation, management, leadership, and agronomy.

    The applicant must possess:

    $35,000-$40,000 dependent upon experience

    Copper Creek Golf Club in Pleasant Hill is looking to fill a crew leader position. The crew leader reports directly to the golf course superintendent and is a seasonal position that runs from February through November or as weather conditions and course conditions dictate.

    Job Duties

    • Provides preventative maintenance and ensures the operation of equipment in the daily maintenance of the golf course. Equipment includes greens mowers, fairway mowers, tee mowers, tractors, weed eaters, and sand trap rake to name a few.
    • Ensures the golf course is set up and ready for golfers every day.  Setup includes the movement of tee markers, changing cup locations on the greens, trash pickup and any other related tasks.
    • Assists with golf course projects including irrigation repair and maintenance, sodding, seeding, and cart path maintenance.
    • Performs other duties assigned by management.
    • GOLFING PRIVILEGES

    Special Requirements

    • Turf grass management experience preferred.
    • Early mornings and some weekends.
    • Must be able to work in all types of weather conditions.
    • Must be good physical condition and be able to lift heavy objects, minimum of 50 lbs.
    • A valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
    • Must be able to follow written and verbal instructions.
    • Good oral communications skills
    • Chemical applicator’s licensed preferred but not required.

    TPC Deere Run is a par-71, 7,256-yard championship golf course open to the public located in the western Illinois region of Silvis, Illinois and just over a two-hour drive from Chicago. Since 2000, TPC Deere Run has been the home of the PGA TOUR’s annual John Deere Classic. TPC Deere Run’s championship course was featured as one of America’s 100 Greatest Public Golf Courses by Golf Digest, as well as ranked fifth in the state of Illinois by GolfWeek Magazine.

    TPC Deere Run is currently seeking an Assistant Golf Course Superintendent.  Qualified candidates should be eager to grow both personally and professionally while being exposed to agronomically challenging Upper Midwest growing conditions.

    Responsibilities include:

    • Working cooperatively with the Director of Golf Course Maintenance and other key staff members to coordinate, schedule and oversee the maintenance of an 18-hole public golf course and expansive practice facility
    • Taking an active role in building and maintaining a dynamic team that grows to 25 members in the peak season.
    • Providing significant input towards the formulation of the department operating budget including purchasing, capital planning, and development of all agronomic programs
    • Ensuring that safety remains the highest priority through active training, supervision and, at times, performing any and all tasks associated with the department
    • Playing an integral role in the planning, setup and execution of a PGA TOUR event, including the coordination of a large volunteer program.
    • Being willing and able to support other PGA TOUR events/venues primarily via volunteering while also being willing to relocate in progressively growing roles within the company

    Qualified candidates will have the following:

    ·       2 or 4-year agronomy degree or related field

    ·       1-2 years previous golf course maintenance experience in progressively responsible positions including supervisory capacities that include all related disciplines to the field

    ·       Comfort and aptitude with all Microsoft platforms, social media (including blogs, Facebook and Twitter) and business tracking software (Playbooks and Advanced Scoreboards) preferred

    ·       A strong willingness to move beyond the status quo and participate in an operation that aims to stay at the forefront of the industry through innovation and open mindedness.

    ·       Have a valid driver’s license and be able to operate a motor vehicle
