Irrigation Tech / Second Assistant

The Dakota Dunes Country Club is the premier golf course in the tri-state region. It is in large part responsible for providing a profitable, high quality and customer-led master planned community that enhances the total environment. We shall maintain it that way with the member in mind at all times. All maintenance tasks shall be accomplished with the least bother to the member.

The irrigation tech reports directly to the asst. supt. or the supt. and is responsible for the operation and maintenance of the irrigation systems at Dakota Dunes C.C. The irrigation tech is responsible for reporting any irregularities in turf quality due to moisture stress as well as performing assigned maintenance tasks.

Duties include: Water greens, tees, fairways, and landscape beds. Operates irrigation heads or hoses in dry areas requiring additional water.

    • Repairs, checks, and trouble shoots the irrigation system and pump station.
    • Performs all golf course maintenance duties, acting as an operator as seasonal labor short falls dictate.
    • Assist in personnel management and evaluation, employee safety, personnel discipline while performing first priority (irrigation) duties.
    • Assist in all nutrient and pesticide applications and obtain a South Dakota Applicators license.
    • Work in the shop performing winter over haul procedures to the Dakota Dunes equipment fleet.

Wage: Salaried position 25-35K per year, hours are as required depending upon season, weekends required based upon hours of operation.

Personnel requirements include a two or four year turf or related degree and two to four years of golf course experience. Ideally, the irrigation tech will have held the chemical applicators position at Dakota Dunes or have equivalent experience.

Irrigation Technician
Spirit Hollow Golf Course
Burlington, Iowa

Spirit Hollow is now accepting applications for the position of Irrigation Technician. The irrigation technician is under the supervision of the golf course superintendent and is responsible for the programming, operation and maintenance of the golf course irrigation system.

Duties Include: Regular sprinkler head adjustment and repairs of the irrigation system. Additional watering of needed areas in greens, tees, fairways, and roughs. Occasionally supervises a small labor force for special projects. Performs pesticide and fertilizer applications and helps with all daily maintenance of the golf course.

Facility: 18 hole daily fee

Maintenance Budget: $650,000

Rounds: 15,000 - 20,000

Turf: Bent grass greens, tees, and fairways

Irrigation System: Toro automated

Experience: 1 year in golf course maintenance or landscaping

Education: Minimum of 2 year degree in Horticulture, Agronomy, Soil Science, or related field.

Salary Range: $13.00/hr

Spray Technician
Blue Top Ridge Golf Club

Blue Top Ridge Golf Club in Riverside Iowa is currently accepting applications for a Spray Technician. This is a 9 month position, March - November.

Blue Top Ridge Golf Club is a golf destination designed by Rees Jones that is part of the Riverside Casino and Golf Resort. The 18 hole course stretches out to 7,442 yards from the back tees. There are 5 sets of tees to accommodate all skill levels. The course opened in 2007 and has hosted various tournaments and received many awards and accolades. The course sits on 250 acres of diverse terrain and greens, tees and fairways are bentgrass.


  • Applicants should have 2 seasons experience on golf course
  • Two year degree in Turfgrass Management or related field
  • Currently have or ability to obtain Iowa pesticide certification
  • Valid Driver's License

Equipment Manager
Elmcrest Country Club

Candidate will be responsible for repair and maintenance of golf course greens and grounds equipment. The equipment fleet includes machines varying in sizes from weed-whackers up to diesel tractors and heavy equipment.

Elmcrest Country Club is looking for a qualified candidate with experience in a mechanical related field. Expectations and attributes of an ideal candidate are listed below.
  • Communicate directly with Superintendent and Assistant Superintendents to ensure an efficient operation while maintaining excellent human relations skills with the ability to communicate efficiently and respectfully with staff and management team
  • Knowledge of small engine repair, reel maintenance, electrical and welding
  • Proficient in Excel for proper inventory and accounting procedures as it relates to repair and maintenance of grounds equipment
  • Have an eye for detail regarding cleanliness, neatness, cutting unit precision and fleet condition
  • Responsible for safety training and management of equipment
  • Willingness to help out on course with all related golf course maintenance items such as mowing, blowing off the course, or anything else as needed

Equipment Manager
Oak Hills Country Club
Omaha, Nebraska

Oak Hills Country Club is a private 18 hole golf course seeking an Equipment Manager who is self-motivated and experience in all phases of golf course equipment repairs and maintenance. Oak Hills is currently leasing 4 and 5 year John Deere rotary and reel mowing fleet. Starting in the fall of 2017, a renovation project will start on the back 9.

Education: High School Diploma. Technical training / degree preferred

Requirements: 2-4 years of experience in golf course equipment repairs and maintenance or in a golf equipment service center. 

Reports directly to golf course superintendent. Under the superintendent’s supervision, the equipment manager will keep all the equipment repaired and operating safely and efficiently. Duties required but not limited to the following:

  • Knowledge of all aspects of turf equipment and repairs.
  • Grinding of bed knives and reel sharping
  • Experience in trouble shooting and repairing diesel and gas engines, electrical and hydraulic systems.
  • Welding skills
  • Ability to lift and carry 50 pounds
  • Must have preventive maintenance skills along with maintaining daily records of repairs.
  • Aids in training all employees in the proper and safe use of mechanical equipment.
  • Maintain a clean and safe working station.
  • Have a valid driver’s license
  • Must be willing to assist in golf course maintenance 10 – 20% of the time.

Compensation: $22 - $25 per hour. Overtime will be require during peak maintenance times, medical and dental benefits, paid personal time off, holiday pay, uniforms, golfing privileges, and local seminars and conventions.
