    The Club has 11,000 golfing members. The gross revenue of the Club is $24.5 million, with a Golf Maintenance Budget of $5 million. There are 200,000 annual golf rounds system-wide. The golf course maintenance staff is comprised of 70 team members in-season. Golf amenities include: (5) 18-hole golf courses, (2) 9-hole golf course, (5) Full-service Golf Shops, Driving Range, Chipping and Putting Greens.

    About the Position
    The Director of Golf Course Maintenance oversees all golf course maintenance operations for the Bella Vista Property Owners Association (POA), collaborating with various departments. The next Director of Golf Course maintenance plays a crucial role in budget preparation, ensuring a smooth golf course maintenance operation that maintains high standards and member satisfaction.

    Responsibilities include employee relations, creating an employee-centric environment, and coordinating personnel matters with the CEO and HR Director. The Director is responsible for financial management, ensuring compliance with internal controls and budgeting, and providing input to the CEO concerning budgets and operational guidelines.

    The Director of Golf Course Maintenance participates in communication within the POA, including weekly management meetings and involvement in various committees. The Director manages capital projects related to golf courses, provides advice, and oversees contractors when necessary. They are responsible for golf course maintenance practices, utilizing the latest technologies, and ensuring a safe and well-maintained environment. Professional development and educational opportunities for staff are also part of their duties.

    The Jefferson Municipal Golf Course is accepting applications for the position of Golf Course Superintendent. This position is responsible for daily course maintenance, repairs and maintenance of buildings and equipment, irrigation system operation and maintenance, application of chemicals and fertilizers, and day to day management of the grounds crew. 

    Minimum Qualifications:  Knowledge of golf course maintenance practices, turf management, and irrigation systems.    Knowledge of maintenance and repair of golf course equipment, including mowers, tractors, and irrigation systems.  Skill in planning work and managing employees.  Experience as a Golf Course Superintendent or similar role preferred.  Must have a valid Driver’s License.

    About the Club:

    Ames Golf & Country Club (AG&CC) was formed in 1911. The original Club, a
    nine-hole golf course with a clubhouse and swimming pool was located south of
    Ames. In 1971, land was purchased and a new golf course was built at the present
    location, north of Ames. The grand opening of the new facility was held on Labor
    Day 1974.
    The Par 71 18-hole course sits on 164 acres and plays between 6685 and 4800
    yards, across five sets of Tees. The club has been host to many state
    championships and PGA Section events, most recently the 2022 IGA State Senior
    Amateur. Club members and guest play, on average, 15,000 rounds per season.
    AG&CC members enjoy amenities that include a zero-depth entry Pool, a recently
    renovated clubhouse with two dining areas, and a year round indoor Trackman
    golf simulator.
    The clubs North Ames location has seen considerable growth over the last ten
    years and that growth continues today. AG&CC is located in the desirable Gilbert

    School District.

    About the job:

    We are seeking a highly motivated, hands-on individual who will be entrusted
    with the daily operation of the golf course grounds and outside services. The Golf
    Course Superintendent is responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of the golf
    course, ensuring it is in excellent playing condition for the club’s membership.
    This role requires strong leadership, expertise in turf management, and a
    commitment to providing an exceptional golfing experience. Day-to-Day

    responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

    • Develop and implement comprehensive maintenance standards and best

    Job Title: Golf Superintendent Location: Waukon Golf & Country Club (WGCG), Waukon, IA

    General Job Description: The Superintendent of Grounds is to maintain the grounds outside the clubhouse which includes, but is not limited to the golf course and greens being kept in TOP playing condition as well as normal maintenance of the golf club property.

    Duties and Responsibilities: Other duties include: the supervision and scheduling of outdoor staff, the maintenance of a calendar describing daily work showing when special needs are done (aerating, fertilizing, verticutting topdressing, spraying, etc.); maintenance of all outdoor equipment and furnishing; monitoring the pond pump and record usage; maintenance of irrigation system; trimming trees as needed; pulling or spraying weeds where appropriate; maintenance of pond and aerators; the clean up of debris etc.

    Schedule routine and preventative maintenance on equipment, doing as much as possible in house. Keep an inventory on all chemicals, equipment, fuel and other goods owned by the WGCC. Clean and maintain outside restroom areas and maintain/repair cart sheds as needed. Attend Board meetings and be prepared to report on outside activities. Work with the club manager and tournament director on tournaments, course conditions, events, etc.; be responsible for deciding if play/carts are permitted due to weather.

    The Superintendent of Grounds position requires certification as a Commercial Pesticide Applicator. It is the superintendent’s responsibility to maintain required licenses for chemical usage. The cost of continuing education/training, license fees and attendance to the State Superintendent of Golf Courses seminar are paid by WGCC.

    Ballard Golf & Country Club is a 9-hole private club located in Huxley, IA.  Ballard offers a great location between Ankeny and Ames.  Ballard Golf & Country Club is a progressive club with a solid, active membership base.  The course is irrigated with a double row fairway irrigation system.  It features a Stratus II central control decoder system and a VFD pump station.  Ballard features Penncross Creeping Bentgrass greens, a blend of Kentucky Bluegrass/Perennial Ryegrass fairways and Turf-type Tall Fescue tees. There is a total of three maintenance shops on site, the newest one built in 2019.  The equipment is mostly newer and well maintained.  Ballard Golf has a Capital Improvement Fund (CIF) that is strategically used to make and improve the facility. In 2022 the CIF was used to complete concrete cart paths on five holes that were gravel.

    Ballard Golf & Country Club is looking for a motivated candidate with an extensive knowledge of golf course maintenance and the game of golf.  Successful candidate will report directly to the Board of Directors at Ballard Golf & Country Club.

    Tournament Club of Iowa is the only Arnold Palmer Signature Course in the state of Iowa. The Arnold Palmer Design Company has award winning golf courses in over 37 states and 25 countries. In 2003, Arnold Palmer and his team created TCI’s beautiful course layout within 500 Acres that cuts through dramatic bluffs and running ravines between Big Creek Dam and Saylorville Lake and ranks as one of the top public courses in the state. Tournament Club of Iowa is managed by Kahler Golf.

    Summary

    Ideal candidates have a genuine passion for agronomic practices and maintenance management. As Golf Course Superintendent, you will be responsible for overseeing the maintenance and agronomic practices of the golf course and adjacent grounds, including the clubhouse landscaping and maintenance. Responsibilities also include overseeing the repair and maintenance of all golf course-related equipment. Previous supervisory experience is a requirement for the position.     Education and Experience Requirements

    • 3-5 years turf grass management experience required • Supervisory, coaching and staff development experience required
    • A four-year college degree preferred, but not required

    • Knowledge of local, federal, and state laws and regulations affecting management of golf course operations
    • Must have a strong business aptitude and passion for the golf business

    Working Conditions
