      Summary

      Turfwerks seeks an Irrigation Territory Sales Representative, in or around the Des Moines, Omaha or Lincoln metro area, to drive sales of Rain Bird golf products and pump stations in Iowa and Nebraska while supporting the strategic objectives of Turfwerks’ irrigation division. This position is responsible for all sales and service coordination in this territory.

      Essential Functions

    •     Communicate with existing golf course customers to generate project and pump      sales

    GENERAL INFORMATION:

    The City of Ames Parks & Recreation Department has two exciting opportunities available for the position of Recreation Manager!

    Under the direction of the Recreation Superintendent; develops, delivers, and implements a variety of recreation programs for people of all ages and abilities; provides on-site supervision during recreation program operation; assists with the daily operation of various Park and Recreation Department facilities as assigned.

    Relocation expenses may be covered.

    Recreation Manager (Adult and Youth Sports and Activities):

    This position is responsible for adult and youth sports & activities; hires, trains, and directs approximately 150 temporary staff throughout the year; develops and implements recreation programs, leagues, and activities for all ages; and recommends and administers the instructional and athletic program budgets.

    Adult sports and activities programmed and supervised include, but not limited to basketball (25 teams), soccer (13 teams), softball (60 teams in summer and 50 teams in fall), indoor volleyball (40 teams in fall and 60 teams in winter) and sand volleyball (65 teams in summer and 25 teams in fall). Youth sports and activities programmed and supervised include, but not limited to, basketball, dance and gymnastics, soccer (spring and fall), summer camps, t-ball, tennis, and volleyball.

    This position includes day, evening, and weekend hours.

    RecreationManager(HomewoodGolfCourse,Ames/ISUIceArena,andFurmanAquatic Center):

    This position oversees the day-to-day operations of a nine-hole municipal golf course clubhouse (approximately 18,000 rounds per year), a seasonal outdoor wading pool, admission and concession operations for the Furman Aquatic Center (averages 90,000 visits annually) and other Department    facilities, and assists with the daily operation of an indoor ice arena; hires, trains, and directs    approximately 75 temporary staff throughout the year; develops and implements golf programs and  leagues; and recommends and administers budgets for the position's areas of responsibility. A new golf course clubhouse is anticipated to open Spring 2021, so the position may evolve into a Clubhouse Manager.

    This position includes day, evening, and weekend hours. From approximately October – March, the hired candidate will assist with day-to-day operations of the Ames/ISU Ice Arena and work from approximately 12:00 pm to 8:00 pm, Monday through Friday. There will also be some Saturday evening hours worked during college hockey games.

    EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

    Examples of Essential Job Functions: Assists Recreation Superintendent in delivery of recreation programs, services, and facilities. Implements and/or coordinates recreation programs; evaluates recreation programs through participant and employee evaluations.     QUALIFICATIONS:

    Required:

    Education and Experience:

    • Requires a Bachelor's degree in recreation, sports management, or related field and one year of experience in a recreation environment. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

    Licenses and Certificates:

    • Must possess a valid Iowa Driver's License within 30 days of hire date.
    • Current in CPR and First Aid certifications or able to obtain within 60 days of hire date. (Candidates not possessing these certifications may still apply; the city will provide and pay for certification courses.)

    Preferred:

    • Three years of experience in a recreation setting and/or facility management.
    • ServSafe Food Safety Manager Certificate.
    • Golf experience including managing a clubhouse, leagues, and lessons.
    • Youth and adult sports experience.
    • Ice arena operations experience.
    • Concessions,inventory, facility rentals, or cash handling experience.
    • Experience with RecTrac.
    • Professional experience with social media.

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Necessary to Perform Essential Functions: General knowledge of recreation programming and facility operations; awareness of skills, rules and procedures related to various recreation activities, athletic programs, instructional classes and special events; knowledge of CPR, first aid and general safety practices. Some knowledge of machinery associated with assigned duties.     Residency Requirement:

    The hired candidate is required to live within a 12-mile radius of Ames City Hall (515 Clark Ave., Ames, IA, 50010) within 6 months of starting employment.

    Civil Service:

    Physical and Environmental Characteristics:

    Required Physical Activities: Climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, finger dexterity, grasping, talking and hearing.

    Environmental Conditions: The work is performed both inside and outside. Some exposure to extreme heat, wet and/or humid conditions, dirt/dust, and other environmental conditions.

    Equipment Essential to the Job: Car, calculator, computer and related software, personnel policies manual, recreation equipment, telephone, audiovisual equipment, fax, copy machine, and minor hand tools. May also include ice resurfacer and skate sharpener.

    Selection Process:

    The selection process consists of an evaluation of education, experience, scored supplemental questions,  phone interview, predictive index assessment, on-site interview, and completion of a criminal background check, which includes a sex offender registry check and motor vehicle record check. All candidates will be notified by email of their application status. Depending on the  number of  qualified applicants  the department may forgo phone interviews.

    Candidates meeting the minimum qualifications (Preference may be given to applicants possessing qualifications above the minimum.) and scoring an average of 70% or greater on supplemental questions 7 through 9 in this application form will be invited to a phone interview. Candidates scoring an average of 70% or greater in the phone interview will be invited to participate in oral board interviews to determine Civil Service eligibility. The Civil Service Score will be determined by oral board interview.

    The Role – Customer Sales & Service Representative I

    The Location – Cedar Rapids, IA

    PURPOSE:

    Serve customers with passion – obsessed with their success - and consistently deliver the best overall customer experience possible. Use knowledge of the products, of SiteOne capabilities and of our customer’s needs to provide proactive assistance and creative solutions that help the customers be successful with SiteOne as their partner.

    ·          A reliable teammate with  a “can do” attitude who assists with all store tasks including, but not limited to, deliveries, cycle counts, inventory spot counts and the end of day process.

    ·          Coach and assist less experienced staff in exceeding customer service and store performance expectations

    ·          Proactively probe customers to understand their needs and be the best at exceeding the expectations of our customers in terms of product, service and partnership

    ·          Unyielding belief in our products, services and partnership capabilities; know the  needs of customers and provide simple, but creative solutions

    ·          Work safely and proactively identify potential safety concerns; assist with developing and implementing solutions and promoting safe behaviors amongst the team

    ·          Help maintain the cleanliness of the store, keeping it neat, organized and safe at all times

    ·          Proactively identify and capitalizes on opportunities to grow sales with current and potential customers

    ·          Assist with merchandising products and managing inventory to ensure we have what our customers want, when they need it

    ·          Contribute strongly to the overall performance and growth of the store and achievement of excellence for all stakeholders

    4. Drive Continuous Improvement

    ·          Embrace change and proactively raise new ideas to improve the performance of the store and area

    ·          Champion and/or play a lead role on major store improvement initiatives

    5. Build Business Acumen

    ·          Develop deep product knowledge in one or more lines of business while having a strong understanding of all store product lines. Know our customers, our services, our partnership capabilities and our competition.  Product Knowledge should include product capabilities and performance, end use and applications 

    ·          Commit to continuous learning and capitalize on all training and development opportunities in order to grow professionally 

    SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:

    ·          Understands principles of excellent communication, negotiation, conflict resolution and customer service skills

    ·          Consistent attention to detail, sense of urgency and problem solver

    ·          Ability to think quickly and make decisions

    ·          Good understanding of managing product inventory

    ·          Good understanding of various department specific computer programs

    ·          Understands principles of nursery, irrigation and landscape products

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

    ·          High School or secondary diploma or equivalent preferred

    ·          Experience in retail nursery and irrigation industry a plus

    ·          Wholesale distribution experience a plus
