Toad Valley Golf Course is seeking an experienced, motivated, and highly organized Golf Course Superintendent to lead our agronomy and maintenance operations at one of Central Iowa’s most active and community-loved golf facilities.

Position Overview

The Superintendent will:

● Create and execute a 12-month agronomic plan

● Lead and manage the maintenance crew

● Maintain high-quality playing conditions under heavy play

● Oversee irrigation, mowing, and turf quality

● Maintain a clean, organized, and professional maintenance operation

● Communicate clearly with ownership through weekly updates

● Provide periodic strategic support to the Deer Run & Colfax teams This position reports directly to ownership/management.

Key Responsibilities

● Direct all agronomic and maintenance operations

● Lead daily crew assignments and weekly staff meetings

● Manage irrigation systems and troubleshoot issues

● Oversee mowing standards, patterns, and consistency

● Maintain equipment cleanliness and coordinate repairs

● Handle fertilizer/chemical applications and maintain compliance

● Track inventory and assist with budget planning

● Provide strategic, non-operational guidance to Deer Run & Colfax maintenance teams

Ideal Candidate Profile

You are:

● Highly organized and detail-oriented

● Able to lead, train, and motivate a maintenance crew

● Strong in cool-season turf management (bentgrass/bluegrass)

● A clear communicator who establishes structure and accountability

● Basic knowledge of how to manage staff using TaskTracker

● Proactive in identifying and solving problems

● Comfortable managing a course with heavy seasonal play

● Ready to bring professionalism and planning to the operation

● Basic mechanic knowledge

Qualifications

● 2-5+ years as a Superintendent or Assistant Superintendent

● Iowa pesticide license (or ability to obtain promptly)

● Strong irrigation knowledge

● Staff leadership experience

● Valid driver’s license

Compensation & Benefits

● Salary: $75,000–$90,000, based on experience and leadership ability
